Nihal Sarin was unanimously voted Player of the Day by the Indian team following a 1.5-2.5 loss to Uzbekistan at the Chess Olympiad.
The defeat marked India's first team loss since 2022 and gave host nation Uzbekistan the sole lead in the competition.
Coach Srinath Narayanan praised Nihal's attacking intent and willingness to take risks with the Black pieces from the start of the match.
