The Delhi High Court questioned the Delhi Police regarding a blanket ban on public demonstrations after authorities refused permission for a Karni Sena protest at Jantar Mantar.
The proposed protest scheduled for September 20 aims to challenge reservation policies and the newly notified UGC Equity Regulations, 2026.
Additional Solicitor General Chetan Sharma defended the refusal by citing security sensitivities at Jantar Mantar and large crowd apprehensions, prompting the court to schedule the next hearing for Tuesday.
