A study of 17,024 U.S. men published in The American Journal of Medicine found that high consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) increases prostate cancer risk by up to 30 percent.
Researchers analyzed data from 2003 to 2023, noting that UPFs account for nearly 60 percent of energy intake for U.S. adults and 70 percent for children.
The American Cancer Society estimates that over 333,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in the U.S. in 2026, with more than 36,000 deaths expected.
