Former India left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha was asked by the BCCI to take charge as interim chief selector following Ajit Agarkar's expired tenure.
Ojha emerged as a natural choice given he has played 24 Test matches, the most among the current members of the selection panel.
The selection committee is scheduled to meet this week to finalise squads for India's upcoming multi-format series against New Zealand.
