Mercedes driver George Russell secured sprint pole position for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, edging out McLaren's Lando Norris by a margin of 0.041 seconds.
Telemetry data revealed that while Russell excelled on straights, he lost significant time to Norris in high-speed turns 7 and 8, where the McLaren showed superior cornering speed.
Mercedes is currently delaying major car upgrades to save development spending for the end of the season, despite the narrow performance gap between the W17 and its rivals.
