Defending champions India bowled out hosts Japan for 57 and chased down the target in five overs to win their Asian Games T20 opening match.

Left-arm spinner Sree Charani claimed four wickets for 10 runs, while opener Shafali Verma scored an unbeaten 40 in the run chase.

India will face Bangladesh in their next fixture after Bangladesh previously pushed them close during the Women's Asia Cup.
