Six Dead in Athens Building Explosion Near Acropolis Due to Suspected Gas Leak

An explosion destroyed a three-storey holiday rental building in the historic Plaka district of Athens on Friday, resulting in six fatalities.

The victims include four American holidaymakers, a British national, and a Greek national couple who resided in the building.

Emergency workers recovered all bodies by Saturday afternoon, with investigators suspecting a gas leak caused the catastrophic collapse.
