Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that his co-pilot attacked him with repeated blows to the head after asking to pray aboard flydubai flight FZ1073.
The seriously injured captain managed to open the cockpit door during a rapid descent, allowing passengers and two traveling pilots to subdue the co-pilot before an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Netanyahu praised Machchhar as a hero and invited him alongside Indian Prime Minister Modi to light a torch on Israeli Independence Day.
