The default forces Medvedev to forfeit approximately $220,000 in prize money, hotel accommodation, and 200 vital ATP ranking points.
The penalty jeopardises his qualification for the season-ending ATP Finals, as he currently sits eighth in the year-to-date rankings with 3,030 points.
