Bedford School, founded in 1552, will become co-educational for the first time starting in September 2027 as part of a major investment plan by the Harpur Trust.
The trust announced that the transition is part of a 12-month investment strategy that also includes campus improvements at Bedford Modern School and upgraded facilities at Bedford Girls' School.
Chief Executive David Steadman stated the changes aim to meet the needs of future generations by expanding educational access while maintaining the school's distinctive experience for all pupils.
