
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Unified Payments Interface now processes approximately 66 crore transactions daily across more than 700 lenders, marking a significant milestone in India's digital public infrastructure.
Annual transaction volume surged from 1.78 crore in FY17 to over 24,162 crore in FY26, while the total value processed grew from ₹0.07 lakh crore to approximately ₹314 lakh crore.
India has signed digital cooperation agreements with 23 countries to export its payment infrastructure, aiming to reduce reliance on traditional correspondent banking and expand UPI's global footprint.
