
Two male Great Indian Bustards were released into the wild at the Desert National Park in Jaisalmer in a ceremony attended by central and state ministers.
The conservation plan currently counts 97 birds, with 57 captive-bred individuals having produced 29 chicks this year and 24 last year.
The species faces threats from agricultural expansion and high-tension power lines, prompting a Supreme Court directive regarding underground lines in priority habitats.
