China Proposes New Export Curbs on Solar, AI, Biotech Technologies

China announced a draft plan, “Announcement No. 48,” to restrict exports of over 40 cutting-edge technologies, including solar manufacturing, AI models, and biotech platforms.

The plan proposes a complete export ban on 14 technologies, such as perovskite and tandem solar-cell module manufacturing, and restrictions on 26 others.

These controls could impact countries like India, which seek to reduce dependence on China for next-generation solar technologies and may face delays in domestic manufacturing.
