Driver Daniel Wilkerson escaped without injury after his Funny Car suffered a catastrophic engine explosion and burst into flames during NHRA qualifying in Las Vegas.
The 38-year-old driver managed to bring the heavily damaged Scag Jackal to a safe stop after colliding with the guard wall following the mechanical failure.
Wilkerson previously survived a similar fiery engine failure at the Sonoma Nationals in July 2025 and a high-speed crash early in his career.
