Five Baby Orangutans Discovered in Odisha Forest Spark Trafficking Probe

Five infant orangutans were discovered in Odisha's Balasore district on Tuesday, prompting an investigation by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau into potential international wildlife trafficking.

The critically endangered apes, which are native to Indonesia and Malaysia, were found in the Bhogarai block and are currently quarantined at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar.

Forest officials suspect the animals were transported by road and abandoned near a highway, as no adult orangutans or other clues were found during a search of the area.
