Himachal Pradesh to Introduce Local History in Curriculum

The Himachal Pradesh government announced on July 31, 2026, that state history, local dialects, and traditional cuisine will be integrated into the curriculum for Classes 6-8 starting in 2027-28.

The initiative aims to preserve the state's cultural heritage by ensuring students have a deeper understanding of their regional identity and linguistic roots.

Educational boards are currently developing the new textbooks, which will be introduced in a phased manner across all government and private schools in the state.
