Russian authorities deny special sanitary restrictions following plague reports

Russian health watchdog Rospotrebnadzor denied that special quarantine restrictions were introduced in the Irkutsk region following reports of a laboratory technician's death from pneumonic plague.

Irkutsk Regional Governor Igor Kobzev stated that expert commission inspections determined the cause of death was pneumonia of undetermined etiology without work-linked microorganisms.

US President Donald Trump stated Monday that his administration was closely monitoring the situation in Russia regarding the plague risk.
