Indian Weightlifters Return Home After Commonwealth Games Success

Indian weightlifters returned to Delhi on August 2, 2026, after securing 39 total medals, including 13 gold, 17 silver, and nine bronze, at the Commonwealth Games.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu claimed her third consecutive gold in the women's 49kg category, while Lovepreet Singh won silver in the men's +110kg class with a 388kg total.

The team finished fourth in the overall medal standings, with coach Vijay Sharma confirming preparations are now underway for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan.
