Doctors are raising awareness that Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), now increasingly referred to as PMOS, can be diagnosed even in the absence of visible ovarian cysts.
The condition affects approximately 1 in 10 women globally, yet nearly 70% remain undiagnosed due to misconceptions regarding the necessity of cysts for a clinical diagnosis.
Health organizations are urging women to seek comprehensive screenings for hormonal imbalances and metabolic symptoms, which are more accurate indicators of the syndrome than ultrasound findings alone.
