THE BRIEF
1

Convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić, who died on August 27 while serving a life sentence for genocide, was buried in Belgrade on Monday with full military honours.

2

Mladić was responsible for the 1995 Srebrenica genocide where his forces killed more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys, an atrocity ruled as genocide by a UN court.

3

The funeral, attended by Russian Ambassador Alexandar Botsan-Kharchenko and Serbian officials, drew international condemnation from the EU and UN for the glorification of a convicted war criminal.
