Survey Reveals Rule Violations in Prescription-Free Medicine Sales

A nationwide survey by LocalCircles covering 327 districts found that 64% of consumers said local chemists never or rarely asked for a doctor's prescription.

The findings emerge as the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare proposes mandatory CCTV surveillance at medical stores dispensing prescription drugs.

The survey also showed that 86% of respondents primarily purchased medicines from local neighbourhood chemists rather than digital alternatives.
