World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka briefly halted her third-round US Open match against Kamila Rakhimova to complain about a strong smell of marijuana from the stands.
Tournament personnel were dispatched to the Louis Armstrong stadium to investigate the complaint, which follows similar concerns raised by player Adrian Mannarino.
Despite the interruption, Sabalenka won the match to advance to the fourth round, keeping her title defense and world No. 1 ranking hopes alive.
