Mumbai police issued a preventive order under Section 144 prohibiting the assembly of five or more people from September 9 to September 23 to prevent potential public disturbances.
The 15-day restriction period covers the 10-day Ganeshotsav festival, which begins on September 14 and concludes with the immersion day, Anant Chaturdashi, on September 23.
Dy. Commissioner of Police Akbar Pathan confirmed the order bans processions, the use of loudspeakers, and the bursting of crackers, though it provides exemptions for weddings, funerals, and official government functions.
