Nitin Gadkari: Barrier-free toll booths on national highways by March 2027

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that 100% of toll booths on national highways will become barrier-free by March 2027, starting with over 70% by December 2026.

Full FASTag implementation will save vehicle owners over ₹5,250 crore annually in fuel costs and generate up to ₹25,000 crore yearly for the government.

Gadkari noted that operational costs for toll booths have fallen from 12% to 2-3%, while overall toll income rose 10% to over ₹82,000 crore.
