National Conference president Farooq Abdullah questioned Delhi’s intentions on Saturday, stating that Pakistan's active international efforts to keep the Kashmir issue alive could be crucial to the region's future.
Speaking at a convention in Baramulla, Abdullah urged citizens to stay strong and fight for their rights, while clarifying that his party never claimed not to be Indian and acceded to Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru's India.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur lashed out at the remarks, calling them seditious and demanding that a criminal case be registered against Abdullah for allegedly lending legitimacy to Pakistan's position.
