West Bengal Assembly Bypolls in Nandigram and Rejinagar Face Opposition Intimidation Allegations

Bypolls for the Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly constituencies in West Bengal are scheduled for October 6, involving key contests among the BJP, TMC, Congress, and Left Front.

The BJP has fielded Hasirani Rath, the mother of Suvendu Adhikari's slain former personal assistant, in Nandigram, a constituency Adhikari won in the state elections earlier this year.

Non-BJP parties have alleged dropout pressure and intimidation, pointing to the arrest of Congress nominee Milan Pradhan in a 19-year-old case ahead of the vote.
