The Indian government has increased coal rake loading by 20% over the last four days to replenish dwindling stocks at thermal power plants across the country.
As of September 6, 2026, daily rake loading reached 444 units, aimed at stabilizing power generation amid reports of critical fuel levels at 58 thermal stations.
The Ministry of Power has prioritized these rail shipments to prevent potential grid instability and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the current peak demand period.
