The system centered about 260 km east-northeast of Chennai and 290 km east-southeast of Nellore, with wind speeds reaching 100 to 110 kmph gusting 120 kmph.

The IMD issued an extremely heavy rainfall alert for Eluru, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, and SPSR Nellore districts as the storm moves towards south Andhra Pradesh.
