Tata Trusts chair Noel Tata presented a Shapoorji Pallonji Group proposal to sell up to a 3% stake in Tata Sons back to the holding company for ₹25,000 crore.
The minority investor offered this buyback as an alternative to an IPO, expecting the funds over 18 months to help clear debt of approximately ₹60,000 crore.
Tata Sons earns about ₹30,000 crore annually from dividends, share buybacks, and fund distributions, making the transaction feasible for the holding firm.
