Edtech firm upGrad has acquired Unacademy in a deal valued at just over $206 million, marking a significant decline from the company's 2021 peak valuation of $3.44 billion.
Unacademy, which became a unicorn in 2020, had previously raised $440 million from major investors including SoftBank Vision Fund, Temasek, and General Atlantic.
Co-founder Gaurav Munjal confirmed the acquisition in a LinkedIn post, acknowledging the company sold for a fraction of its previous peak valuation after years of market shifts.
