Iran Parliament Speaker to skip BRICS meet amid medicine delivery dispute

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Ghalibaf will not attend the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in New Delhi on October 26 and 27.

The cancellation follows reports that India refused to let Iran Air fly a shipment of medicines directly to Tehran due to concerns over U.S. sanctions.

Indian officials maintained that medical consignments can be delivered safely through third countries like Armenia, while Iranian representatives argued humanitarian aid is exempt.
