A 25-year study of 22,000 people by the University of Aberdeen and Keele University found that individuals with heart disease face a higher risk of developing and dying from cancer.
The correlation was particularly strong in men, with researchers noting a significant increase in lung and esophageal cancer cases among those with pre-existing heart conditions.
Scientists attribute the shared risk to common lifestyle factors like smoking, poor diet, and physical inactivity, suggesting that heart-healthy habits provide dual protection against both diseases.
