Science SARU adapts Masamune Shirow's 'The Ghost in the Shell' into anime series

Science SARU released a manga-faithful adaptation of Masamune Shirow's cyberpunk franchise 'The Ghost in the Shell' set in a 2029 society defined by cyberbrains and prosthetic bodies.

The series features Section 9, a government black-ops unit led by Chief Aramaki and fronted by Major Motoko Kusanagi, voiced by Maaya Sakamoto.

The adaptation explores themes of consciousness as a commodity and introduces sentient AI spider-tanks known as Fuchikoma that develop proto-unionisation characteristics.
