Tanzania announced a natural gas discovery estimated at 223 billion cubic feet in the Mnazi Bay area, marking the country's first major find in ten years.
Energy Minister Juma Homera stated that the Kasa-1X ST2 well, jointly owned by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation and Maurel & Prom, will begin production early next month.
The new reserve is intended to boost domestic electricity generation and industrial power supplies, complementing existing natural gas reserves of 57.54 trillion cubic feet.
