Millions of blue tiger and dark blue tiger butterflies have begun their annual migratory journey from the Eastern Ghats towards the Western Ghats.
The seasonal migration is triggered by the onset of the North-East monsoon, with observers in Tamil Nadu recording up to 120 butterflies per minute.
Researchers note that upon reaching deep forests in the Western Ghats, the butterflies feed, mate, lay eggs, and complete their lifecycle.
