The Supreme Court refused to issue an interim order suspending Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of taking unilateral decisions.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant issued notices to the Election Commission and Centre, seeking responses within a week.
The petitions claim that the CEC made around 14 decisions between October 2025 and August 2026 without the consensus of fellow commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.
