Railways approves Rs 4,178 crore projects in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh

The Ministry of Railways approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 4,178.13 crore spanning 236 km in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh under the Southern Railway jurisdiction.

Projects include the 159-km Salem-Karur-Dindigul doubling project costing Rs 2,241.67 crore and the 77-km Arakkonam-Renigunta third and fourth line project costing Rs 1,936.46 crore.

The works aim to increase rail capacity, reduce congestion, improve train punctuality, and support freight services along high-density traffic routes.
