
Defending champions Sri Lanka opened their Women’s Asia Cup campaign with a nine-wicket victory over the UAE, chasing a target of 80 in just 7.5 overs.
Mithali Ayodhya and Chethana Vimukthi each took three wickets to bowl the UAE out for 79, while Chamari Athapaththu scored an unbeaten 48 off 25 balls.
The win, achieved with 73 balls remaining, marks Sri Lanka's largest T20I victory by balls remaining and saw Athapaththu become the first player to reach 500 Women's Asia Cup runs.
