Bangladesh has linked Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's potential visit to India to the extradition of former leader Sheikh Hasina and the suspects in the murder of student leader Osman Hadi.
Spokesperson A.K.M. Shahidul Karim stated on August 16, 2026, that bilateral relations were vitiated by Sheikh Hasina's August 5 press conference held at the Foreign Correspondents Club in New Delhi.
Dhaka is currently awaiting a response from Indian authorities regarding the extradition requests, which are based on a bilateral treaty, to restore a propitious environment for the Prime Minister's visit.
