A SalarySe study of 5.2 lakh salaried Gen Z users reveals that over 70% of their monthly spending is directed toward everyday essentials rather than big-ticket lifestyle purchases.
Bill payments and subscriptions account for 20.1% of monthly spending, followed by groceries at 15.7%, financial services at 12.2%, shopping at 11.9%, and food at 11.5%.
The data shows that essential spending increases from 50% to 59% as users age from the 18–23 bracket to the 24–29 bracket, while discretionary spending remains consistent at 32%.
