Proposal to fell 1,100 trees for Hebbal tunnel road sparks concerns

A proposal to cut over 1,100 trees for a 2.3-kilometre tunnel road at Hebbal in Bengaluru has drawn objections from environmentalists.

The three-lane bi-directional underground road connects Hebbal Junction with the University of Agricultural Sciences staff quarters to ease traffic congestion.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority has invited public feedback while the project faces a separate legal challenge before the Karnataka High Court.
