Cheltenham Superintendent Resigns Following Football Team Hazing Scandal

Superintendent Dr. Brian Scriven resigned from the Cheltenham School District on Thursday, citing the need for a fresh start following a massive hazing investigation into the high school football program.

Montgomery County officials charged 10 people, including four coaches and six players, after a 15-year-old student was assaulted twice in the locker room during the previous season.

The district has canceled the 2026 football season, and Joshua Sweigard has been appointed as the acting superintendent to lead the district through the transition.
