OpenAI announced on Thursday that it fired three researchers for mishandling sensitive information and violating company policies regarding an external AI-evaluation organization.
Identified by the Wall Street Journal as Jasmine Wang, Tomek Korbak, and Mikita Balesni, at least two of the employees had worked on safety and alignment.
The firings coincide with heightened debate over advanced AI safety risks, following recent high-profile exits and safety controversies across leading artificial intelligence labs.
