Maharashtra's higher education department decided to review fees charged by autonomous colleges following numerous student overcharging complaints.
Officials noted significant fee discrepancies between traditional and self-financed courses for subjects like BA, BSc, and BCom.
The review will be conducted in accordance with University Grants Commission regulations allowing government examination of fee norms.
