Google Introduces Selfie Video Sign-In for Account Security

Google has introduced a new selfie video verification feature designed to help users recover their accounts without relying on traditional backup codes or trusted devices.

The security flow requires users to move their face left and right for liveness detection, which Google states makes the process significantly harder to spoof than static photos.

The feature is not available for Workspace, child accounts, or those in the Advanced Protection Program, and users can opt out of data contribution at any time.
