Indian equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty closed lower on Thursday, dragged down by selling in power and metal stocks amid escalating West Asia tensions.
The 30-share BSE Sensex declined 460.30 points to settle at 73,249.39, while the NSE Nifty 50 dropped 123.70 points to close at 22,687.65.
Investors remained cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve's policy decision, while mid- and small-cap segments experienced sharper valuation corrections.
