Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Philippines President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr met on the margins of the BRICS Summit on Sunday to expand cooperation in defence, security, trade and investment.
The external affairs ministry stated that the two leaders reviewed bilateral ties, noting that the Philippines participated as the current chair of ASEAN and shares strategic security concerns with India.
Modi also held separate meetings with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and other African leaders to review regional ties and multilateral coordination.
