Lok Sabha Introduces Anti-Paper Leak Bill With Stricter Penalties

Minister of State Jitendra Singh introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on July 27, 2026, to combat examination irregularities.

The proposed legislation mandates fast-track court trials to be completed within three months of chargesheet filing and requires investigations into paper leak cases to conclude within two months.

State governments may appoint special public prosecutors and designate session courts as fast-track courts, with appeals against verdicts required to be disposed of within three months by High Court benches.
