Eight local schools have formally filed an appeal against the Virginia High School League's (VHSL) recommended alignment plan for the 2027-2031 period.
The schools are challenging the proposed classification changes, citing concerns over travel distances and competitive balance in regional sports.
The VHSL is expected to review the appeals and hold a hearing to determine if adjustments to the alignment plan are necessary.
