Bank unions defer 3-day nationwide strike after late-night talks with IBA

The United Forum of Bank Unions deferred its three-day nationwide strike scheduled to begin on Monday following a late-night meeting with the Indian Banks’ Association.

A high-level committee will be constituted immediately to examine the union's demand for a five-day working week and declare all Saturdays as holidays.

The proposed strike coincided with the September 30 half-yearly financial closing, which the Ministry of Finance had warned would disrupt banking services and inconvenience the public.
